Liverpool youngster Jay Spearing has joined Leicester on loan until the end of the season.
As revealed by skysports.com earlier this week Leicester have agreed a deal to take the highly-rated midfielder on loan.
The 21-year-old midfielder has found first-team opportunities hard to come by at Anfield, but is held in high regard by the Reds.
It is felt that his development would be greater served by taking in a spell away from Merseyside.
As a result, Spearing
will now see out the remainder of the 2009/10 campaign at the Walkers Stadium, as the Foxes attempt to secure promotion out of the Championship.
“Jay is a great signing for the team, a player that should be a big help to us between now and the end of the season,” Leicester chairman Milan Mandaric told his club’s official website.
“We have been trying to do everything we can to ensure that we have the best chance possible of succeeding in this division.”
Spearing made his Liverpool debut in a UEFA Champions League clash with PSV Eindhoven
in 2008.
He was handed his first senior start in this season’s Carling Cup
clash at Leeds and made his first Premier League start against Sunderland in October 2009.
